Blockboard is made up of a core of softwood strips, which are bonded together under high pressure to form a slab. To each face are glued one or more veneer sheets of hardwood, in the opposite grain direction, ensuring resistance and stability. Advantages of blockboard:The three main types of blockboard are 3-ply, 5-ply or 7-ply construction. The first is normally used for out of sight applications, the second with decorative quality for furniture manufacturing, whereas the latter have a higher utility in door manufacturing and construction.
